Low back pain

According to statistics, about 85% of people experience low back pain. This problem is more common among middle-aged and older people, but young people are not immune to it either. The provoking factors are stress, a sedentary lifestyle, excess weight, trauma, colds, and hypothermia. Physical therapy can often help prevent lower back pain. Treatment depends on the localization of painful sensations, their strength, the causes of the disease. The patient needs a thorough examination.

Indications for urgent medical attention

In a large number of cases, low back pain treatment is conservative. The doctor will prescribe pain medications, exercise therapy, or massage. Wearing a special corset helps a lot. In this case, the cause of pain is damage to muscles, ligaments, joints. Prevention and a healthy lifestyle are of great importance.

If the pain has become regular, the visit to the doctor cannot be postponed. Constant weak or moderate pain intensity speaks of a serious pathological process in the body. The sooner you start treatment, the better your chances of achieving full recovery.

Types of back pain

Doctors describe four main types of back pain:

  • Acute, caused by trauma or degenerative changes in the spine. It intensifies with physical exertion.

  • Chronic felt for more than 2 months. It is caused by scoliosis, osteochondrosis, herniated discs. It can be localized on one side.

  • Strongly expressed neuropathic - occurs when the nerve roots are pinched. Has a sharp character, gives to the legs.

  • Giving to the legs to the left or to the right. May be accompanied by fever in the lumbar region. It intensifies with a change in body position.

Localization of pain is important when making a diagnosis. Lower right back pain can be caused by diseases of the kidneys, liver, pancreas, gallbladder. Fever, nausea, problems with urination are possible. Lower left back pain can be the result of trauma, joint damage, infection. It can be caused by increased physical activity, psychogenic or neurogenic factors.
